Bailey County Senior Center 

"Our mission is to create and/or improve the well-being of our senior population in the areas of physical, mental, and spiritual health." 

Center Activities

  1. We provide a healthy, nutritious lunch that is served Monday - Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  2. We provide exercise classes for seniors to promote better health and functioning. This year’s classes have included Senior Yoga, Tai Chi, A Matter of Balance, Sit and Be Fit, and various forms of Dance. We provide a program called “Temple Builders” that meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Rashad Kirven provides personal training and leads the class.
  3. We offer both Spanish and English classes. (Basic conversational Spanish and English)
  4. We have a Caregivers’ Support Group. Through this program, we provide grief counseling.
  5. Every week arts and crafts activities are conducted. The Muleshoe Art Association teaches a class each month where participants complete their own work of art. Some examples: Make Your Own Christmas Cards, The Art of Making a Terrarium, Decorate and Make Jewelry Boxes, holiday décor, wooden art, etc.
  6. Every day at our center we have – Pool, Dominoes, Bunco, other games. Big screen TV with movies and Channel 6 TV. Puzzles, both jigsaw and crossword. Bingo and Loteria is played each week.
  7. We have a regular library with books and videos. We also have a Caregiver’s Library to provide information on Alzheimer’s, dementia, cancer, strokes, Parkinson Disease and other concerns. Nutrition and caregiving information is also provided here.
  8. We provide entertainment every week, usually during one of our meals. We have had bands and individuals performing with different instruments such as a dulcimer, harp, guitar, harmonica, organ, etc.
  9. We also provide guest speakers on topics for seniors such as Fraud and Scams, CPR, Recognizing Symptoms of Heart Trouble or Stroke, etc.
